As I wait with bated breath to see what happens to our country over the next few months, it becomes difficult to focus on just one event or facet of freedom principles in such an insignificant blog. So, I haven’t been writing. The news cycle is both fast and distracting while also being ho-hum, same-old, same-old.
We’ve had the Olympics versus Christianity discussion. We’ve had the DNC nomination of a candidate no one wanted back in 2020 – but was admittedly chosen for her sex and color (essentially a DEI hire) – and we have Democrats who will vote for her now who hated her before.
We have been introduced to her running mate – and the numerous controversies surrounding his service and his governorship, and we now have RJK, Jr. endorsing Trump for the presidential race.
We could talk politics/political races, weather/climate, wars/conflicts, economy/inflation, socialism/Marxism, judicial rulings, and the views of prominent influencers and former newsmen. But we won’t.
Because as the world continues to turn, and the politics heat up, and the infighting continues to lead to backbiting and backstabbing, I have been blissfully sitting on Lake Ontario, performing music, making friends, hiking, and eating way too much food.
I encourage readers to go listen to my Brushfires of Freedom from two years ago. That's a good refresher on how to think about things...maybe.
But other than that, we are due for our August session of Freedom Academy tomorrow, Tuesday, August 27, at 8PM.
When I am in Florida, I have a group that meets every week. And we try to set up what we might discuss the following week – but often we just show up and someone has something they want to talk about. Although I think in September, I will cover the Electoral College again (so please invite anyone who is interested in it), and perhaps in October, I will cover the Florida ballot initiatives as I have done in previous autumn sessions, we have been at this for FOUR YEARS now. So I’m going to switch it up.
COME TOMORROW NIGHT – and let’s talk about whatever YOU want to discuss. At the very least, we can look at if or how to think about your chosen topic in relation to freedom principles. A good practice session!
I will, however, come prepared with a subject myself – but it will not be a lesson or my opinion or my take on any of it. I will throw the topic to the participants – and ask questions to get YOU to talk and opine.
This is the shift, dear Freedom Faithful. Four years ago, there was enough to “learn” that we met almost every week (three times a month!). Now we can put it all into practice.
And maybe we can go back to meeting more frequently than once a month – if interest and topics and current events warrant it. I would love your feedback – TOMORROW NIGHT during Freedom Academy with Dorothy.
